Privacy Policy

The Cashmunk app

Cashmunk is a local-only app. Your budget data, transactions, and categories live entirely on your device. I don't have a server, database, or any way to access your financial information.

The app doesn't include analytics, tracking, or any "phone home" functionality. When you use Cashmunk, it's just you and your device.

Your data exists only on your iPhone and in your iCloud backup (if you have iCloud backup enabled). If you delete the app without backing up, your data is gone. I can't recover it because I never had it.

This website

What I collect: Your email address, but only if you sign up for the launch notification.

Why: To send you one email when Cashmunk launches in the App Store. That's the only purpose.

Third parties: Email delivery is handled by Buttondown , an indie-run email service. They store your email address to deliver the notification. I chose them because they share the same values around privacy and simplicity.

After launch: Once Cashmunk is available, I'll send the announcement and then delete the email list. No marketing, no "tips and tricks" newsletter, no selling your address to anyone.

Website analytics

I know privacy policies are often ignored because they're usually bad news. This one isn't. I use analytics to understand how people find and use this website, and I chose tools that respect your privacy.

What I use: I use PostHog for analytics, configured for maximum privacy.

What I collect: Page views, which page you came from (referrer), device type, browser, and your general geographic region (derived from your IP address, which is then discarded).

Engagement signals: I track how far you scroll, which sections you view, and how long you spend on the page. If you start filling out the email form but leave without submitting, I'll know the form was abandoned (but not what you typed). This helps me understand if the page is working or needs improvement.

What I don't collect: Your IP address isn't stored. No cookies are used—nothing persists after you leave the page. No personal information. No tracking across other websites. No fingerprinting to identify you. No selling or sharing your data with anyone.

Privacy signals: If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, analytics won't load at all. You can also use an ad blocker to prevent analytics from running.

Where data is stored: EU servers in Frankfurt, Germany. Data is stored in memory only during your visit—nothing persists after you close the page.

Your rights

Access: The only thing I have is your email address (if you signed up). I don't have access to any of your app data.

Deletion: Want off the list before launch? Email hello@cashmunk.app and I'll remove you.

Portability: Your data is already portable—it's on your device. The app will include export functionality.

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, I'll post the update here. For significant changes that affect your rights, I'll note it clearly at the top of the page.

But honestly? The core promise won't change: your data stays yours.
